Mul-Baiyer MP Koi Trappe has submitted his district’s 2021 services improvement programme funds acquittals to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development this week.
“Mu-Baiyer is the first district in the upper Highlands to submit its 2021 district services improvement programme (DSIP) funds acquittals,” said Department of Implementation and Rural Development deputy secretary Gordon Wafimbi.
Speaking during the presentation yesterday in Port Moresby, Wafimbi said it was important to submit DSIP funds acquittals as it was in compliance with current legislations and policies.
“In terms of implementation and reporting, the district is consistent and it is a good indication of compliance,” he said.
“It is important to provide acquittals for the purpose of accountability and also to ensure that the DSIP funds are used for its intended purpose.”
Wafimbi said it was good to see district administrations abiding by the laws of the country, thus following the government established processes.
Trappe and his delegates were at the office of Department of Implementation and Rural Development in Port Moresby to present funds acquittals.
He said Mul-Baiyer was a large district and the acquittals covered the Mul, Baiyer and Lumusa rural local level governments.
He said last year, K11 million was given in DSIP to the district and these acquittals would show how this funds were being used.
“As the MP responsible for the electorate, I have to move my administrative team here to submit the acquittals before I go back to my district for the election.”
Trappe said maintaining law and order in the district was challenging but his administration was doing its best to ensure there was social order in communities.
