THE Tubusereia Cricket Association and Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) have begun a month-long trial of the Liklik Kriket talent identification programme for Under-16 boys.
Association executive Herea Lohia said two teams would compete in three T20 matches.
“With the backing of CPNG, we’ve been hosting matches for our junior division,” he said. “Davara Sharks are coached by Rennie Haoda, assisted by Wilfred Vagi and managed by Hebou Karu.
“Tano Maganis are coached by Buruka Vicky, assisted by Christopher Kila-Pat and managed by Hera Logona.
“All 12 players will take the field in a 20-over match should they all attend.
“In the event of absences then a minimum of eight players will take the field in a 10-over match.
“The matches will be played with a hard ball, all equipment will be supplied by CPNG.
“Cricket in Tubusereia takes this opportunity to thank CPNG for providing a pathway and opportunity for junior development in the village.
“The matches, sanctioned by CPNG, will be held on three consecutive Saturdays, beginning this weekend.
“Two teams, comprising 12 players each, have been selected from the recent Liklik Kriket competition.”
The players picked from Tubusereia will attend a talent identification camp where selections for the national junior squad will be done by CPNG’s talent officers.
