TWO men were charged in a committal court in Waigani with robbing Monira Investment Ltd in Port Moresby last month.
Magistrate Paul Puri Nii yesterday read out the charge to Yawe Aku, 20, from Eastern Highlands and Nelson Kali, 27, from Enga and remanded them.
Nii adjourned the matter to June 16 for mention.
On April 26, Aku and Kali along with four others allegedly armed with police gas gun, two factory made pistols and three home-made guns entered the Monira store in ATS first block.
They allegedly held up the shop employees and removed K2,000 from the cashier and went into the bedroom of the shop manager Sohag Hossen and ordered him to unlock a drawer.
The accused then told Sohag to lie down on the floor while they removed K8,000 and flex cards, top-up cards and rait cards valued at K4,000.
They then removed Sohag’s Samsung A50 and A30 phones and a CCTV decoder.
A total of K10,000 and K10,000 worth of items were taken in the robbery.
They then fled in a getaway car and fired several shots.
The car was later found by a police unit at Erima Wildlife. The car was reported stolen in June Valley’s new settlement on April 25.
Police conducted a raid on April 30 and arrested the two accused in their respective houses.
