A POLICE-issued firearm allegedly used in the death of a 15-year-old boy at Erima, Port Moresby on Dec 13, 2017, has not been handed in for ballistic testing, chief of police Forensic Science Supt Philip Rambaliku says.
“The police officers accused in the killing of the late Joe Michael near the Erima Bridge had brought in the wrong firearms,” he said.
“And to date we are still waiting for the investigators to bring in all the firearms that were issued to these accused officers. We have collected all the discarded bullet shells from the spot of the shooting and did tests against the firearms brought in. But tests indicated that none of the firearms brought in was used in the killing. ”
Meanwhile, National Capital District officer in charge of investigation Chief Insp Peter Kusup said that they had brought in all the firearms to the forensic laboratory for ballistic testing.
“Investigation is still continuing and once we have all the evidence, we will start to arrest the suspects.”
It is understood that the late Michael was returning from a touch rugby game when he was allegedly shot and killed by police officers.
