UNIVERSITIES should start thinking of upgrading their courses.

I have no intention to criticise the courses run by tertiary institutions.

However, I believe that our government priority is more or less concerned about the basic well-being of its citizens such as health, education, law and order and so on.

This  means  that  the government is trying to solve the problems directly or primarily so that there is stability in the current trend of our development.

Modernisation and technological advancement  are  rapidly  moving at a fast rate in third world countries and more interestingly, resulting in these countries developing faster than expected – such as India.

Anyway, this is all to do with knowledge.

Engineering and science courses must be suitable to solve the issues that the state  is  currently  facing and might face in the near future.

Another  thing that we do not have is the state of the art research centres which will become the backbone of our universities when it comes to research in our country’s social, technological, environmental and economic matters.

Research establishment is a key in higher level of learning  and if we have better research then many universities would want to collaborate with us when it comes to science.
