Upgrade of Lae-Nadzab road starts: Nali

WORKS and Implementation Minister Michael Nali says upgrading has started on the Lae-Nadzab road in Morobe.
He said completion of the highway from 9-Mile outside Lae to Yalu River and the road from the University of Technology (UOT) and Buyamong would make Lae city roads among the best in the country.
Nali said similar projects had also been initiated and delivered in other parts of the country and those included NCD roads.
He said he was happy to announce that the 9-Mile to Yalum River section of the Lae-Nazab road was under construction while the remaining part would continue until it reached Nadzab Airport.
He said from Nadzab, the K3 billion Highlands Highway rehabilitation programme would start towards the end of this year as the contract would be awarded after the tender process.
Nali said while his department wanted to do more for the people, lack of funding was a major drawback.
In relations to street lights along the UOT to Bumayong, the minister said he would check with his department why it was taking time to light up.
