Vadavada celebrate new uniforms with victory over 2-Mile

VADAVADA United celebrated their new uniforms with a 12-6 win over 2-Mile United in round nine of Moresby South Rugby League competition at Moresby South Stadium on Sunday.
“The win is crucial for us as we look to sneak into the top-eight,” head coach Steven Francis said.
He said Vadavada were in 12th place on the competition’s and it was important that they win the remaining six games.
But the victory did not come easy as Vadavada were hampered by poor ball security in the second half.
However, with experienced hands in Maya Clark, Jason Maima, Joel Torome, Wawa Paul and captain Joe Mika, Vadavada kept their composure to dominate in attack and defence. Vadavada opened the scoring with an unconverted try by winger Kinfu Jack before hooker Jason Wings bagged another four-pointer for an 8-0 lead at halftime.
Early in the second half, 2-Mile surprised the opposition when winger Dawa Peter crossed over for a try and Shaun Peter added the extras to trail 6-8.
The match seesawed before Vadavada’s Junior Amos crossed over for the winning try eight minutes from fulltime.
In other results, ladder leaders Kaugere Bulldogs beat Kone Eagles 16-8, Korobosea Souths defeated Kipo Eastern Pride 5-0, Sub City Raiders triumphed over Koki Eels 4-0, Gabutu Dragons edged 6-Mile Crows 2-0 and Taurama Wolfpack downed Southern Sons 14-4.
