VEHICLE owners travelling to the Pacific Games venues should use the designated car parks instead of parking “unattended” elsewhere.

The three park-and-ride sites are Murray Barracks, Unagi Oval and Jack Pidik Park. They can park their vehicles there and travel by a shuttle bus to the Games venue.

National Capital District urban safety director Paul Komboi said the designated car parks were well-lit at night and guarded by police and security officers.

“I am urging the public not to leave their vehicles unattended at some place which is insecure,” Komboi said. “There’s adequate parking space and sufficient security lighting to ensure a safe environment for families to move around. The free bus shuttle services are always on hand to transport people from the designated car parks to the different venues.”

He also urged students on school holidays to keep out of trouble, especially drinking and causing a nuisance in public.

Officers from the NCDC Urban Safety Unit will be patrolling public areas and the venues to watch out for trouble makers.

“Parents must continue to discipline their children and keep them in line as the Pacific Games security operations will be strict on trouble makers,” he said.
