Vipers to get vaccine

PORT Moresby Vipers team manager Ronnie Titie says the Digicel Cup club is yet to schedule a time for its players and officials to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.
He told The National yesterday that PNG Sports Foundation pandemic management committee chairman Dr Kapua Kapua facilitated an information and awareness session on Friday.
“We’ve had the awareness session but vaccination remains voluntary,” Titie said.
“Each player will have to make their own decision whether to get vaccinated or not.
“But for the purpose of the competition, we have been advised by the deputy controller to get vaccinated as a form of protection for the competition to run without the risk of transmission.
“Awareness has been ongoing during training, so players are aware of the vaccination.
“There are still talks going on within the club so by the end of the week, we should be able to schedule a time to get vaccinated.”
Meanwhile, PNG Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka said last week that clubs had been urged to get vaccinated for the competition to run in a coronavirus-safe environment.
