VONNIE Kapi Natto was elected unopposed as the new president of the NCD Public Servants Soccer Association  during their annual general meeting held at PNGIPA Oval, Waigani, yesterday.

The Solomon Islander filled in the vacant position after former president Simon Koima made a disappearing act from the Public Servants Soccer competition three years ago.

Her deputy is Morata FC delegate Ottie Soka and Yamaros’ George Lavette is the new secretary while the treasurer was Patricia Nabwakulea.

In her maiden speech as president, Kapi Natto pulled no punches and called for full cooperation from all stakeholders including her new executives and the club presidents to make their soccer association as one of the top association in the country.

She thanked former vice-president Justus Baopo and former secretary Pascal Lasalo for pushing her to take up the interim committee chairmanship prior to her confirmation as the new boss of the NCDPSSA competition.

“There is no free ride. It is time for hard work. Those executives who are now elected must be prepared to work with me day and night to ensure the competition is up and running effectively as a football competition,” she said.

Kapi Natto said she would apply her skills, which made Hekari United FC the top club in the country, to help NCDPSSA to become a top soccer association as well.

“There is no room for leniency. It’s time for hard work and not for chest-beating’ she reminded her new executives.

“The success of what NCDPSSA can do would depend entirely on full cooperation from all the club presidents and officials.”

She thanked her interim committee Baopo, Pancy Sawan, Paul Isoroa, Gima Kila, Job Minan and the patron John Kapi Natto for standing behind her during the turbulence time.
