Wafi-Golpu mine questions?

Letters

THIS is an open letter to Environment Minister John Pundari along with Minister for Communications Information Technology and Energy including Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd and Kumul Mining Holdings Ltd and Bulolo MP Sam Basil.
There is so much publicity going on about the good and bad side of mining of Wafi-Golpu underground mining protect in Morobe.
Our good ministers: can you please come out publicly and tell the nation or publish your department’s environmental impact study reports on Wafi-Golpu project?
We the silent majority of Bulolo district have the right to know all this information.
Ministers, you will agree with me that the Wafi -Golpu underground mining will be the first of its kind in Papua New Guinea.
We are yet to know what are the dangers and other environmental impacts it will cause down the line. The people of nearby Mumeng and Buang LLGs in Bulolo and some parts of Huon Gulf Eletorate are concerned that the underground mining of Wafi-Golpu may intrude into their customary land rights.
This is because of unforeseen environmental damage as well as future landowner claims.
In underground mining, nobody knows what is going on underneath except the developers themselves.
To the Government: if you give clearance for the commencement of underground mining without listening to the resource owners and Morobe provincial government, the operation of Wafi-Golpu underground mining will not last as your government and developers have predicted.

Former Bulolo MP
