Wait for Covid-19 results same as NID

Letters

THE wait to get certificates of clearance and test results from health authorities regarding our Covid-19 status is starting to feel like how we’ve waited for the national identification cards and birth certificates.
If you are a Port Moresby resident, you go for a test at the Rita Flynn Complex.
You would then be advised to give your contact details so they can call you to provide your results.
You won’t get that call in a reasonable amount of time, at least from my experience.
They would give you a number to call to follow up on your result, but they hardly answer your calls.
I believe most people are just accepting that because they are used to the poor public service.
I can understand the tiresome work that the medical staff are doing to put samples and getting results, let alone monitoring the Covid-19 call centre. But can someone in authority explain the delay in providing Covid-19 results and certificates of clearance?
Some people are not allowed to resume work until they provide a medical clearance.
So that means that even if I test negative for the Covid-19, I am not allowed to get to work until someone decides to pick up the phone and print my certificate of clearance.
How convenient is that?
