THE Education Department, in its effort to implement the water sanitation and hygiene (Wash) programme in schools, is working with Anglicare PNG under funding by Unicef PNG.
This programme is piloted in the six primary schools in the National Capital District.
Work has been done to upgrade facilities like toilets, hand-washers, and showers for girls.
As part of the Wash in schools programme, last Wednesday saw the donation of five wheelie bins and two menstrual hygiene bins to Bomana Primary School.
Those bins will be used to deposit rubbish like empty cans, leaves and plastic bags.
Other five schools will receive their bins this week while some
schools have received theirs last week.
First assistant-secretary for policy and research, Peter Kants congratulated the schools under the programme
