POLICE in Western’s North Fly Command received two vehicles and an outboard motor from the provincial government to improve their operations.
Governor Taboi Awi Yoto said his government was aware of the issues experienced by police in the province.
He said his administration was committed to strengthening the disciplined force, as they played a strategic role in protecting the province and securing the country.
Yoto said this was due to the province sharing two international maritime borders and a vast land border with Indonesia.
The assets were purchased through the provincial service improvement programme funding earmarked for the law and justice sector in 2018.
The governor was adamant that his government would continue to address major issues affecting the province.
Yoto said the vehicles and outboard motor were purchased from the K500,000 that had been earmarked for police projects in the South and North Fly Commands.
North Fly police commander Snr Inspector Silva Sika thanked the provincial government for the logistical support for their operations.
