Westpac names award finalists

 WESTPAC has named three finalists for each of the seven categories in its 2015 Outstanding Women Award.

The seven categories are the PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Sector Award, Steamships Not for Profit Award, Pacific Assurance Group Public Sector Award, SP Brewery Entrepreneur Award,  Trukai Community Award, IBBM Young Achievers Award and The Moore Printing Sports Award.

The National is also a sponsor of the Westpac awards. 

The private sector award recognises outstanding achievement by a female manager in the private sector who has contributed significantly to the performance of a company or business unit. 

The finalists are Sisa Kini of Exxon Mobil, Angela Pukari of Lihir Medical Centre and Hari of Bank South Pacific.

The not-for-profit award recognises outstanding achievement by a female in the not-for-profit sector, either in a voluntary position or through a role with an organisation. 

The finalists are Agnes Mor of Fred Hollows Foundation, philanthropist Janet Sios and educationalist Velepat Tuaru.

The public sector award recognises outstanding achievement by a female manager in the public sector, who has contributed significantly to the performance of any government service. 

The finalists are pathologist Dr Evelyn Lavu, founder of Women in Business Janet Sape and building engineer Jennifer Tangole.

The entrepreneur award recognises outstanding achievement by a women with at least a 50 per cent shareholding in an organisation in the field of innovation for new products or services. 

The contenders are Joyce Kiage, Rossell Salika and Judy Defensor.

The community award recognises outstanding achievement by a female working to improve conditions in the community. The contenders are Rachael Aine, Ruthy Watlen and Beverly Piawu.

The young achievers award recognises outstanding achievement by a young woman under the age of 30. 

The finalists are Michelle Boyana, Veronika Damena and Barbara Thomas.

The sports award recognises outstanding achievement by a woman in the development and/or success of a sport or sporting body. 

The contenders are Veitu Diro, the Pacific Games relay team of Tamzin Wardley, Fiona Speedy and Vanessa Kerton, and Emma Waiwai.
