What is so special about our women?

COMMUNITY Development Minister Dame Carol Kidu used to be a very good and critical leader.
She set out priorities and achieved them.
She fought for the betterment of the people of PNG.
Lately, she appeared to have lost her priorities.
Why is she fighting for 22 reserved seats for women?
We are fighting for gender equality. Yet, we want to treat women in a special way by reserving seats in parliament.
Isn’t that hypocritical?
It is the mindset that Papua New Guineans have to change, not gender.
Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane said something about women being the most important people during his speech after the march to stop violence against women last week.
Can someone please tell me why women must be treated in a different way?
Why are they special, Sir Paulias?
If there are no men, there will be no women and vice versa. We are equal and breathe the same air.
Let’s not force our way in as we will be classified differently from the males.
Let’s go through the same furnace that leaders like Dame Josephine Abaijah, Dame Carol Kidu and others, including the men, have gone through.
The people must put our hands together and vote for more women MPs that will bring about a change in respective electorates in the 2012 elections.
