THE Hela Wigmen continued their perfect start to the season with an 18-8 win over the winless Goroka Lahanis in round three of the Digicel Cup in Port Moresby yesterday.
The Sir John Guise Stadium double-header also saw the Central Dabaris fight back to force a 16-16 draw with the Kimbe Cutters.
The Lahanis-Wigmen match saw a composed Hela side dominate with halves Solomon Pokari, Judah Rimbu and hooker Patrick Morea paving way for tries to William Mone, Kennedy Telenge and Tommy Moide
The Lahanis fought back with two unconverted tries through Jordan Millie and Manu Solly to see them trailing 8-14 at halftime.
A scrappy second half from both sides saw Pokari take two penalties goals adding four points to their tally for a fulltime score of 18-8.
Despite their third straight win, Wigmen coach Charlie Wabo has called for control in their style of play with forced errors robbing them of scoring opportunities.
Meanwhile, Dabaris centre Makara Hura scored a double to help the Central side force a draw with the visiting Cutters.
Hura opened the scoring before Cutters responded through second-rower Alex Rova for a 6-6 tie at halftime.
The second half saw the Cutters break through with centre Benjamin Kot scoring.
The Dabaris answered with a try to halfback Jerry Teme (10-10).
A brilliant break from Cutters five-eighth Justin Yoka saw him split the Dabaris defence for a converted to the Cutters in the 74th minute (16-10).
However, a last-minute dash from the Dabaris saw Hura score his second try.
Five-eighth Junior Belo converted the extras to level the scores.
