THE Mendi Muruks’ win over Hela Wigment in round one of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup is a morale booster for the team, coach Andrew Andiki says.
Andiki said through the Muruks beat Wigmen 26-16 at the Lae League oval on Saturday there were some areas they needed to improve.
“I am thankful for this opportunity to be back as Muruks coach after two years,” he said.
“There were few mistakes our players did in the second half but we managed to maintain our game strategy and claim this match with a victory.
“The players maintained good discipline and indestructible strength and I’d like to thank every player for the cooperation during the game.
“We will maintain this game moral standard next week and throughput the season.”
Wigman coach Seth Ripp said it was a good match against Muruks but they would come back stronger in round two.
“It is what it is for the game today and we will come back stronger next weekend,” he said.
