WESTERN Highlands Governor Paias Wingti has praised rival candidates for giving him a good challenge in the general election.
Wingti said he was very happy that the province now had good and vibrant leaders and he was confident they could take the province forward.
He said leaders like Max Kumbamang, John Piel, George Bopi, Danny Gonol and others who had contested the election, were some of the good leaders.
While signing the writ last Thursday night at the Kimininga police barracks in Mt Hagen, Wingti said as a senior politician in the country, he wanted the province to breed many more good leaders.
“I like campaigning with these leaders. When campaigning, I see that we have potential leaders who will be capable of leading the province and the people in future,” Wingti said.
He said as a senior person in politics he liked such challenges from upcoming leaders.
Wingti said in future he wanted more leaders to come up so they could help in the development of the province. He dedicated his win to the people of Western Highlands and his rivals.
Wingti said that everyone should leave their differences aside and work together to develop the province.
He said he would ensure the people received basic services under his leadership.
