Despite efforts by Lae MP John Rosso to make Lae city clean by putting up rubbish drums in specific locations around the city, some of those rubbish drums were either burnt with rubbish or taken down. Schools and some businesshouses have taken the initiative to clean areas in Top Town and some other areas. Just opposite the Lae main market is this pile of rubbish on the side of the road. People walking by add rubbish to this pile everyday.
