The loss of public land to development is worrying both members of the public and, especially, Morobe Land and Physical Planning Minister Thomas Pelika, who is also MP for Menyamya. Some of the areas which have been lost to commerce are Lion’s Park at Eriku, opposite Lae Secondary School (left), and the DCA beachfront (below). Both have been fenced in. Pelika wants to know why and how prime real estate once in the public domain have been lost to business.
