ROUND seven of the Women’s National Soccer League will see two big matches played tomorrow in the Northern and Southern Conferences.
The main match of the Lae fixtures will be a top-of-the-table clash between Poro and Bara at the Papua New Guinea Football Association Education Centre at 11-Mile outside Lae.
In Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea Football Stadium will see ladder leaders Hekari United battle Port Moresby Strikers.
Hekari head coach Erickson Komeng told The National yesterday that his side, currently on 18 points, were aiming to retain the top spot on the ladder.
“We beat them in round one,” he said.
“I’m sure they will look to settle a score.
Our game plan is set.
“I will count on PNG representative Marie Kaipu and Calista Maneo to lead from the front.
“I have one more session with my squad tomorrow (today) before I finalise my team.” Meanwhile, Komeng said with Mother’s Day on Sunday, their game would acknowledge mums in the squad.
“My players and coaching staff have mothers, so it will be good to play well to honour them and team manager Vonnie Kapi Natto,” he said.
“She’s like a mother to us.”
In the other fixtures of the Port Moresby triple-header, Central’s Amoana will face winless rookies Bernice in the opening match at 11am. The second match will see second-placed National Capital District, led by mentor Wira Wama, battle Matthew Witu-coached Souths Hinamo.
