THE Port Moresby Women’s Association has announced the finals format for its corporate slow-pitch competition which will see the top-eight teams from each pool advance to the playoffs.
After the completion of round eight last weekend, association president Ian Soweni said the finals would be held after the general election with July 16 proposed for the grand final. “At this stage, we’re hoping to finish our games before the polling, so that we have the finals after the counting,” he said.
With four games remaining before the finals, Soweni encouraged teams to continue turning up to ensure the completion of round games.
“The teams have so far been organised,” he said.
“We have been flexible in running the competition to ensure that teams are enjoying the games.
“We understand that companies are paying.
“We’re hosting games on Saturdays because of the men’s fast-pitch competition.
“From this weekend, we will be playing on Saturdays and Sundays to complete the regular rounds.”
Swire Vikings and Cardno Vikings are leading pools A and B respectively at the Bisini Diamonds.
“The the top-two teams will cross over for the Cup match,” Soweni said. “We’ve proposed to hold our grand final on July 16.”
