PAPUA New Guinea Hunters coach Michael Marum says the team has been working on basic areas this week in training and are aware that the Mackay Cutters were last year’s Queensland Cup premiers.

He rated last week’s game against the Redcliffe Dolphins as an ideal preparation for much tougher opponents they are drawn against starting tomorrow in Kokopo.

After Cutters, the SP Hunters host Central Queensland Capras on March 15 before facing last year’s minor premiers Northern Pride in their third consecutive home game on March 22.

Marum said the Hunters should arrive in Kokopo today appealed for good support from the province for the team.

Marum said forward Joe Bruno has been brought into the starting line-up replacing Gonzela Urakusie. Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter Government Relations Leo Dion has congratulated the team, coaching staff and management for winning their first game in their campaign for Queensland’s Intrust Super Cup.

Dion, who is also the Regional Member for East New Britain, said the win laid the foundation for their upcoming home game in Kokopo tomorrow.
