A ONE-day workshop to discuss security issues in the Asia-Pacific region was held in Port Moresby organised by the Defence Force and the United State embassy.
It was in conjunction with the Pacific tour by Tom Patykula from the Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies (APCSS).
The Daniel K Inouye (DKI-APSCC) is a US department of defence institution in Honolulu, Hawaii, where military and civilian officials from the Asia-Pacific address security issues and enhance security cooperation through courses, workshops and dialogue.
The workshop was run by Defence Force commander Major-General Gilbert Toropo and Oro Governor Garry Juffa. Both are APCSS almunae.
Maj-Gen Toropo thanked the DKI-APCSS for its continued support on capacity building for security practitioners in the military and civilian bodies.
He said PNG had been represented by Government officials from the military and civilian at the DKI-APCSS since 1977.
“Alumnae associations have been viewed as the platforms across the region for collaboration and dialogue.”
