Policemen suspended for alleged drinking, driving during SOE

National

SIX policemen in Popondetta have been suspended from work and are being investigated for allegedly drinking while on duty during the state of emergency (SOE) and liquor ban, according to police.
Northern police commander Supt Michael Welly told The National that the policemen were allegedly caught drinking and were suspended on April 14 for the internal investigation unit to carry out investigations. He said their suspension would expire on Tuesday and he would review it based on the progress of the investigation.
If the investigations are completed on time, he will decide on what actions to take against them.
Supt Welly said if there was enough evidence to arrest and charge them, they would be charged accordingly.
He said he also received reports of other policemen drinking and driving around during the SOE and they would also be investigated.
“It is unbecoming of policemen who should be enforcing these SOE orders are found drinking.”

  • If you don’t know what to decide, disregard charging them, Discharge them from the force! Police are a disgrace all over the country. The few stupid servicemen are ruining the majority of the good ones. End this new shameful Culture of the RPNGC!

  • When will they learn, they are the ones breaking the laws that they themselves are aware of, giving bad reputation to all other good officers around the Country.

  • No suspension, rausim ol go out lo force. Are they disciplinary forces or nondisciplinary idiots! just tell them to go out?
